Which Country's Gift Card Pays the Most Naira? We Checked All 150 Rates

Most guides on selling gift cards in Nigeria talk about brands — Amazon vs iTunes vs Steam. Far fewer talk about the variable that often matters more: which country issued the card.

We looked across every rate we publish. The pattern is consistent enough to be useful.

UK cards win almost everywhere

Comparing the UK and US rate for the same brand, at the time of writing:

On four of the five brands where we price both, the UK card pays meaningfully more. Razer Gold is the one clear exception, where the US card leads slightly.

Why UK cards command a premium

The pound is worth more than the dollar. A £100 card carries more underlying value than a $100 card, and rates track that.

Supply and demand. US cards are by far the most common card reaching Nigeria. Abundant supply softens the rate. UK cards are scarcer.

Resale friction. Some regions are harder to move on secondary markets. The rate you are offered is partly a reflection of how easily the buyer can pass the card on.

The practical takeaways

If you hold several cards, sell the US ones first. Counter-intuitive, but the US rate is the most exposed to supply pressure. UK and European cards hold their premium better over time.

If someone abroad is buying you a gift card, ask for a UK one. On a $200 Steam card that preference is worth around ₦58,000 compared to the US equivalent.

Do not assume a non-US card is unsellable. We price cards from 46 countries. Cards from the UAE, Brazil, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore and across the Nordics all have live rates — and are routinely refused elsewhere, which is precisely why holders assume they are worthless.

Check the denomination band, not just the country. Some brands price large cards lower per dollar. EU PlayStation cards above $200 pay less per dollar than smaller ones. The rates table shows every band explicitly.

What this does not mean

It does not mean you should hold a card waiting for a better rate. Gift card rates in Nigeria track the parallel FX market, and that moves in both directions. A card is not an investment — the value you can see today is the value you can act on today.

It also does not mean every UK card beats every US card. The table above is brand by brand, and Razer Gold reverses the pattern. Check your specific card rather than applying a rule of thumb.
