Sell Xbox and PlayStation Gift Cards in Nigeria: Rates and Regions
Console gift cards are among the most common cards reaching Nigeria, and they are also where the biggest pricing surprises show up. If you hold both an Xbox and a PlayStation card, they are almost certainly not worth the same.
Xbox pays more than PlayStation right now
At the time of writing:
Xbox
| Card country | Rate per $1 | $100 pays about |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | ₦1,228 | ₦122,800 |
| Europe | ₦1,028 | ₦102,800 |
| United States | ₦990 | ₦99,000 |
| Canada | ₦668 | ₦66,800 |
PlayStation
| Card country | Rate per $1 | $100 pays about |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | ₦778 | ₦77,800 |
| United States | ₦720 | ₦72,000 |
| Europe | ₦618 | ₦61,800 |
| Canada | ₦358 | ₦35,800 |
A UK Xbox card pays around ₦45,000 more per $100 than a UK PlayStation card. That is not a small margin, and it is worth knowing before you decide which card to sell first.
Rates change. These were correct at publication — see the live rates page for today's numbers.
Why the gap?
PlayStation Network codes are more tightly tied to the account and region that redeems them, and Sony has been more aggressive about regional enforcement. That narrows the resale market and pushes rates down. Xbox codes move more freely.
The practical takeaway: if you are choosing which card to buy as a gift for someone who may later want to resell it, Xbox holds value better in this market.
PlayStation has a denomination cliff
Look closely at the PlayStation rates and you will find something unusual — EU cards are priced in two bands:
- $10–$199 → ₦618 per $1
- $200 and above → ₦538 per $1
Larger cards pay less per dollar, not more. This is the opposite of the usual assumption that bigger cards get better rates.
If you are holding a €200 PlayStation card, you are not doing anything wrong — that is simply how the market prices the risk on high-value PSN codes. But it does mean splitting a large purchase into smaller cards would have paid more, which is useful to know for next time.
Regions we price
- Xbox — 19 combinations including UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, Brazil, UAE, Hong Kong, Denmark, Czechia and Turkey
- PlayStation — 10 combinations including UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand
Non-US console cards are common in Nigeria and frequently rejected elsewhere. It is worth checking rather than assuming.
Selling checklist
Know your region. The store you bought from determines the region, not where you live. Check the receipt or the currency on the card.
Do not redeem before selling. Once a code is on an account, it cannot be transferred and has no trade value.
Get the quote first. Message us on WhatsApp with the card type, region and amount. You will have a firm number before you share any code.
Questions people ask
Is a PlayStation Plus subscription card the same as a wallet card? No. Subscription cards and wallet top-up cards are priced differently, and some subscription products are not tradeable at all. Mention which you have when you ask for a quote.
My Xbox card is for a specific game. Can I sell it? Game-specific codes are a different product from Xbox gift cards and generally are not covered by the rates above. Ask before assuming.
Can I sell a card that has been sitting unused for two years? Usually yes — Xbox and PSN gift cards do not typically expire, though regional terms vary.
